Mary walked down the familiar path of the mountain to Forget-Me-Not Valley. Every monday when the library
was closed, she would walk down this path and visit her friend and piano buddy Lumina. She was a rich girl,
but with a heart of gold and a never wavering friendship.

Today, she really needed a friend.

For a little earlier, she had just presented her final token of affection to Gray. She offered him a blue feather.
After all, they had been there for each other through the thick and the thin. They talked, laughed together, and
everybody, including her, thought they were a picture perfect couple.

Oh how wrong she was.

For Gray turned her down in the harshest of ways. By telling her he was engaged to Claire, the girl who came
to Mineral Town not too long ago to take over the farm there since the other one, Jack, had to visit the
mainland in order to take care of his sick mother. Mary felt as if the Harvest Goddess had just smacked her in
the face, telling her to stop living in delusion.
-----------------------------------

Lumina wanted to scream so very badly right now.

Although she was too occupied taking it out on the piano. She thought Rock loved her, and only her. He
always came back with a smile and a flower. He encouraged her to keep playing. Just like the new farmer Jake
did before he left for a family emergency. That's when SHE came in.

Jill, Jake's second cousin, and who Lumina thought was an Evil Witch (her proof was that she saw the girl
hanging out with the Witch Princess often).

With a wink and a couple of gifts, Rock forget all about her like he did many things in his lazy, lazy life. Now
they're married, and Lumina was left with a shattered heart.

"At least today is monday, Mary will make everything better." Lumina muttered to herself
-------------------------------

Mary finally found herself calming down as she reached the familiar structure of Romana's mansion. Knocking
on the door, she was pulled in by Lumina.

"We need to talk" They said at the same time.

"Boy troubles?" They asked at the same time as well.

After two simulatainous nods of their heads, they let out all their frustrations and problems to each other.

"Oh, that Gray! After all I've done for him, to abandon me for a new girl just like that! I was the one who was
supposed to be with him, not her!" Mary shouted in a very un-Mary like way.

"I know how you feel! That little.....little......WITCH charmed Rock away from me! Since Jake is gone, nobody
else would encourage me to play piano anymore, or visit......or even say anything to me......" Lumina said
before breaking out in tears.

Mary held her longtime friend as she let everything out. Then she cried as well until they both stopped an hour
later.

"Let's make a promise......No more men, just us is all that we need." Lumina said with a sniffle.

"I promise." Mary said, and they hooked their pinkies together.
-------------------------------------------

After some much needed venting, Mary and Lumina had themselves a wonderful time. They gossiped, played
the piano, and played. From noon till sundown, all they needed was each other. However, it was almost time
for Mary to go home.

"Mary.......I wish you could come over more than once a week." Lumina said as they played the piano one last
time. They eached used one hand.

"I know.....I should really find a way to visit more often." Mary admitted as she looked at the sheet music.

It was then that their hands that weren't playing the piano brushed against each other.

They looked a bit flustered at the contact, but they didn't break away. In fact, they interlocked their hands
together.

It was then, when they looked at each other eye to eye, that something clicked in their heads and hearts.

It was love.

Forbidden? Maybe. Wanted? Without a doubt.

They made a promise, no more men. They had the same interests, likes(mostly), and most importantly,
treasured every moment they had together.

So why couldn't they love each other?

Nothing would stop them now.

So Lumina took the wheel and gently leaned towards Mary, her piano hand breaking away to caress her cheek
before their lips came together in a more than friends kiss.

Their cheeks went ruby red, but neither would break away till they needed to get air.

"I......I......I....." Lumina stuttered before Mary put a finger on her lips.

"Don't worry about it. I liked it too." Mary told her.

"So now you'll come over more often?" Lumina asked.

Mary gave her a kiss. "Yes. I will. But for now, I have to go." she reminded Lumina as she got up and left the
mansion to go back to Mineral Town and her library.

She had a new novel to write, and a new love that would never betray her heart. She hummed a small tune as
she listened to the piano music coming from the mansion as she walked up the trail back home.

Today had been better than she thought after all.
